The course is for qualified electricians with relevant experience and the qualification provides a strong foundation for career progression to senior technician status within the building services engineering sector. It could also form the first part (120 credits) of a related foundation degree programme and, as such, provide a possible first year exit or second year entry point qualification.

We have recently received outstanding feedback from the City & Guilds external verifier for the portfolios submitted by two of the first students to complete this qualification:

"The range and quality of the delivery was excellent and delivery is undertaken on a specialist team basis. The Centre requires a high standard of portfolio content to be submitted by the candidates. This is clearly demonstrated in the two portfolios externally verified.

The Qualification Consultant spoke to each candidate by telephone. Both candidates had previously undertaken their apprenticeship training/examinations through the Centre and held the processes of administration, delivery, assessment feedback and support in high regard.

Following completion of their apprenticeship one candidate had concentrated on the work areas of desgin and administration, and the other on the installation aspects. Comment was made on the flexibility of the course content to meet the varied needs of candidates' backgrounds."
